2006, the Year of Windows Vista?
| Technology Articles | Windows Vista |
Part 2

One such change will be Vista isolating various applications and componets, so if a virus comes in the amount of damage it can cause throughout the OS will be limited.  This is hot news because it will basically eliminate the threat from viruses as we know them today.  In addition to this, there should also be a stronger desktop search function (if you didn't know MSN and Google are currently at war, and MSN needs to make up ground) also there should be additional gaming features because Vista will be the first mainstream OS from microsoft to handle 64-bit applications.

Ofcoarse what Vista will really be like remains unclear, microsoft is keeping tight wraps on it, allowing only certain people to test its beta version.  One rumor says that Vista will ship out in 7 different forms, confusing many and helping few.  Microsoft promises Vista will be a new era in personal computing, such crazes as windows 95 created are expected, but if you remember, 2 years later we had windows 98, then windows 2000, then windows ME, then windows Xp, then windows media center edition.  So I will personally be waiting untill it is time to buy a new computer to upgrade my OS, but for those of you who simply must have this new release, here is what PCWorld suggest you do to make sure your computer will be Vista ready.

2GB of ram
64-bit CPU
PCI Express Graphics board with 128MB of Ram
SATA Hardrive with NCQ
Monitor that supports HDCP copy protection standard required for playback of high-def content
